Employment Specialist
Location: This position will work a hybrid model (remote and office). The ideal candidate will live within 50 miles of our Topeka, Kansas OR Olathe, KS Elevance Health PulsePoint location.
The Employment Specialist is responsible for overseeing employment services and support for LTSS programs and services including maintaining relationships with employers, workforce development and understand the needs of transitioning youth seeking employment. Provides support and health plan information service linkages to the care management teams.
How you will make an impact:
Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Provide working knowledge of state and local employment programs as well as policies and resources for child welfare and youth exiting foster care.
- Responsible for coordination with the Working Healthy/WORK program, STEPS, the Kansas Workforce Centers, Kansas Rehabilitation Services, and the Kansas Departments of Education, to assist the State in increasing competitive integrated employment of youth and adults with disabilities.
- Manages external client facing relationships and partners with corporate and regional business areas.
- Coordinates training related to external client facing program. Identify innovations and develop partnerships to address local and system workforce needs.
- Partner with other foster care roles to explore adult education, high school completion, job training/apprenticeships, employers and alternate learning platforms and programs to ensure member access.
- Develop and report on quality measures related to internal and external workforce programs.
- Assist the State with any new employment initiatives the State may implement and provide ongoing leadership of employment services and support for the staff and Participating Providers.
Minimum Requirements:
- Requires a BA/BS degree and a minimum 3 years of workforce development programs experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences:
- 3 years of experience in developing employment services and supports for persons with disabilities in integrated settings, which shall include at least 1 year experience directing such programs and services; or other significant and relevant employment services expertise as approved by KDADS in writing.
- Must successfully complete Association of Community Rehabilitation Educators (ACRE) professional level employment training.
- SSI/Social Security disability insurance Outreach, Access, and Recovery (SOAR) certified specialist with KDADS and the Social Security Administration either prior to or during the first year of employment.
- Familiar with the Individual Placement and Supports (IPS) supported employment model, and any other evidence based employment models used by the CMHCs.
